Crew: Farm Crew

Length of time at CCNB: 6 months

Reason corpsmember was selected: : Lila always arrives with a smile and a positive attitude. She has a great willingness to learn, fantastic work ethic, is detail-oriented, and takes initiative. Lila leads nursery operations on the farm, following planting schedules, making soil mixes, seeding flats, transplanting seedlings. She is responsible for making sure plants are propagated in a timely manner for field planting. Lila is an eager teacher when other crewmembers or volunteers work with her in the nursery. Through a transitional time on the farm, Lila maintained her commitment and dedication, warmly welcoming new corpsmembers. She is bright, communicative, hard-working, enthusiastic, and a joy to work with.

Leadership: Nursery operations

Skills training received at CCNB: Lila was able to learn something new on the Farm everyday. The list of skills is endless...

Favorite project: Any and all projects while working with a partner and/or other people.

Favorite educational component: Active learning, sharing information and teaching others.

Favorite aspect of working at CCNB: Working outside all day on the Farm

What did Corpsmember do before joining CCNB? Managed an all women's health and fitness center

Why they joined CCNB: To work at the Indian Valley Organic Farm & Garden.

Corpsmember's future plans To be a committed and loving mother, hardworker, and lover of life.

How CCNB has changed their life: She has fallen back in love with bees, trees, plants and seeds.

What life lessons has the Corpsmember learned from the experience? Life is much better when shared with another person and/or people.

Any advice for young people wanting to join CCNB? To continue to be kind, compassionate and understanding towards thing and/or people that you have yet to experience and/or understand.
