Reason corpsmember was selected: Brandon is an excellent role model to his fellow corpsmembers. He has great attendance, a positive attitude and an enthusiastic work ethic. He is currently Assistant Crew Leader and is learning to organize projects.
Skills training received at CCNB: Chipper, Sawyer I & Sawyer II
Leadership roles at CCNB: Assistant Crew Leader
Favorite project: The brief trail work that we did with Sonoma County Water Agency along the Russian River.
Favorite educational component: Learning about the various types of animals and insects that live in the areas that we work in.
Favorite aspect of working at CCNB: The hands-on training that we receive with power tools.
Future plans: I intend on continuing my education and possibly working further with the Sonoma County Water Agency.
What did Corpsmember do before joining CCNB? I was not going to school at all. I worked part-time at two dead end jobs. I was stuck in a rut.
Why did Corpsmember join CCNB? I initially joined CCNB so that I could obtain my basic high school diploma. I also liked the idea of the physical work.
How has CCNB changed your life? I got my diploma and I'm now in the Santa Rosa Junior College. Since I've been here, I've also received Sawyer I & II and Chipper certificates. Assistant Crew Leader too.
What life lessons has the Corpsmember learned from the experience? I have learned many essential skills to thrive in the workplace. I have also had the pleasure of learning about the natural world around me.
Any advice for young people wanting to join CCNB? Stay positive and keep your eye on the prize.
What's the most important thing you've learned from this experience? How to set goals and achieve them. I have already met many goals that I set when I began. I am still striving towards more.
