Length of time at CCNB: 11 months
Reason corpsmember was selected: Mabel is an extremely hard worker and always goes above and beyond her duties as a corpsmember and safety officer of the crew. Lately she has been asking more and more questions in English and trying to practice English as much as possible.
Skills training received at CCNB: Chipper; Sawyer I; Sawyer II, fire fuel reduction; trail maintenance and construction; flood control practices; and invasive plant removal
Leadership roles at CCNB: Safety Officer
Favorite project: Building a raised trail using deconstructed granite and plywood near the hostel at Fort Barry for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Favorite educational component: Mabel enjoys learning English grammar in her classes every Friday and continually practices her new skills with her crew members and her teachers.
Favorite aspect of working at CCNB: She enjoys working on the crew and learning from her leaders.
Future plans: Mabel hopes to work for a landscaping company and garden for her own enjoyment.
