Length of time at CCNB: 18 months
Reason corpsmember was selected: Excellent attendance, work ethic, and commitment to education. Angel is one of those corpsmembers you can feel perfectly comfortable leaving in charge of a crew. His positive attitude makes even the most daunting work challenge, such as moving an eight foot tall pile of creek debris or invasive plants, seem downright easy Angel is an absolute pleasure to have on the crew.
Skills training received at CCNB: All the power tools: brush-cutter, power-pruner, hedge-trimmer, chainsaw level II; creek cleaning, fence building, native plant planting, erosion control, invasive spartina grass removal.
Leadership roles at CCNB: Safety officer with both Community Recycling Crew and Natural Resources Crew 5. Moving up to Assistant Crew Leader for crew 5.
Favorite project: Cleaning creeks for county flood control.
Favorite educational component: Learning about natural resources and the environment. Learning English.
Favorite aspect of working at CCNB: Helping Marin County.
Future plans: Work for the county.
