Delfino Santos Alonzo López

Length of time at CCNB: 13 months
Reason corpsmember was selected: Delfino demonstrated his skills as a sawyer and a true leader of his crew during the demanding trail project in Olema. Each morning before the start of the work day provided detailed, easily-understood instructions which resulted in the crew completing the trail project one and one-half weeks early.
Skills training received at CCNB: He has earned Sawyer I, Sawyer II, Sawyer III, and Chipper certificates and learned to identify native plants. He has also received erosion control and leadership training as well as instruction in the proper use of brushcutters and other electric tools.
Leadership roles at CCNB: Originally appointed a Safety Officer, Delfino has been promoted to Assistant Crew Leader (ACL). His responsibilities include assisting with project planning and tool repair in the field, taking attendance and directing corpsmembers.
Favorite project: He especially enjoyed creating the new trail at Olema in Point Reyes.
Favorite educational component: Honing his English speaking skills.
Favorite aspect of working at CCNB: Clearing streams as part of the flood prevention/mitigation that his crew has done.
Future plans: To continue improving his English and work for a landscaping or gardening company.
