One-Day Volunteer Opportunities

For one-day volunteer opportunities, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 415-454-4554 extension 285 to learn more about our program.

May I schedule for a group? How many people can you accommodate at once?

We can accommodate large groups of up to 20 people. These events offer volunteers a chance to unite with fellow workers in a common cause. In addition to our ongoing volunteer projects, we host community service days throughout the year in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (January), Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning (March), Earth Day (April), Summer Service Days (July/August), Coastal Clean Up (September), and America Recycles (November). If you are scheduling for an even larger team, please do contact us so we can discuss your project needs.

Can students and children volunteer?

Yes, all ages are welcome within the following guidelines:

  • Middle and high school students can volunteer for any of our projects. Group projects do require chaperones – please contact our Volunteer Coordinator for details.
  • Depending on the project, children must be accompanied by an adult to ensure safety. Please refer to the project description for the age requirements.

How do volunteers help CCNB?

Year-round volunteer support is essential for CCNB in our efforts to engage the community in our mission to develop youth and conserve resources for a strong, sustainable community. We rely on our volunteers to:

  • Restore critical habitat by collecting and planting native plants, protecting riparian habitat, and locating, identifying and removing exotic, invasive plants
  • Monitor wildlife, such as coho salmon, harbor seals, and snails
  • Maintain and repair trails
  • Beautify community gardens at local schools and retirement homes
  • Beach clean ups, creek clean ups, neighborhood and park clean ups
  • Tutor corpsmembers to pass the California State Exit Examination and in specific subjects

Every year 2,500 CCNB volunteers accrue 7,497 hours of service, which is equivalent to four full-time employees.
