Directly Supervises: Corpsmembers on Community Recycling Crew
Job description:
The Community Recycling Crew (CRC) Supervisor works under the direction of the Community Recycling Program Coordinator by providing daily supervision for 8-10 corpsmembers charged with the implementation of a wide-range of Environmental Education projects.
Duties and responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervision:
- Provide daily supervision of 8-10 corpsmembers including enforcing program policies, evaluating performance, facilitating personal and professional development and completing daily paperwork.
- Provide continual guidance to corpsmembers in developing lesson plans, delivering effective presentations, and teaching appropriate environmental content.
- Coordinate daily crew logistics including transportation, staffing, and materials.
- Provide coverage for absent corpsmembers on projects and presentations when needed.
Program Development:
- Work on a team to develop program-specific trainings for the Community Recycling Crew corpsmembers.
- Establish and maintain new and existing contacts with program sponsors, teachers, and community members.
- Develop curricular modules and materials to guide corpsmembers in classroom presentations.Â
- Organize special one-day community service projects.
Administration:
- Develop and maintain tracking systems for program evaluations, objectives completed and member hours.
- Compile data and submit monthly status reports.
- Organize work schedules for the daily Community Recycling Crew projects.

- Ability to supervise and motivate young adults from a wide variety of social, economic and educational backgrounds to work together as a team.
- Background in curriculum development and implementation.
- Experience in coordinating community-based projects.
- Familiarity with a wide range of environmental issues and ability to articulate these issues to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and experience with MS Office software, including ability to track and aggregate data.
- First Aid/CPR certification within 2 months of hire.
- Clean DMV record, with ability to earn a Class B driver’s license within 2 months of hire.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education and experience:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; Background in curriculum development and implementation
- Understanding of a wide range of environmental issues and the ability to articulate these issues to a diverse audience
- Experience supervising youth from a wide variety of social, economic and educational backgrounds to work together as a team
- Experience serving and volunteering in the community.
- Must possess a strong service ethic and be able to instill this ethic into team members

Intermittently twist to reach equipment surrounding desk. May be expected to lift and move containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
